What we talk about when we talk about love

What we talk about when we talk about love

Curated and edited by Federica Angelucci, this group exhibition and its accompanying catalogue investigate the complexity of the spheres of love, desire and self-inquiry. The title, borrowed from a Raymond Carver story, suggests that the search for love extends beyond popular culture's notion of romantic love, reiterated in movies and songs. The selected works explore the relationship that we have with ourselves, what we like and dislike, what we desire or reject, and why. Featured artists are Francis Alÿs, Zina Saro-Wiwa, Pieter Hugo, Anton Kannemeyer, Zanele Muholi, Glenn Ligon, Claudette Schreuders, Meschac Gaba, Deborah Poynton, Viviane Sassen, Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, Penny Siopis, Ernesto Neto, Dineo Seshee Bopape, Wim Botha, Nicholas Hlobo, Igshaan Adams and Simon Gush.
